eco challenge 2012

The past few years I’ve become a diligent consumer but over the last few weeks I’ve been exposed to an enormous amount of alarming information about the fragile state of the earth that we have put it in. Reckless consumerism has lead to the fastest rate of extinction of species in history. Faster than the dinosaurs.

For the next while this blog will be dedicated to a research project I’m starting out of my own interest about pollution, climate change, and the extinction of species. I’m going to try to put facts in a way that they’ll make sense.  And wont set you to sleep.

spring 2012 trends

spring 2012 trends

Chiffon Blouses. I'm loving this sheer blouse trend, a great way to stay cool without showing too much skin and the flowy fabric is so beautiful and will work so well with the all the wind we get in Vancouver.

Chiffon Tail Skirts. I can 't be happier that there's a non-miniskirt trend happening. Love this style but personally I don't have an occasion for it. Too dressy to be casual but not proper enough to be formal. Pretty much for the trendy girls on lookbook.nu

Pastel Jeans. Slim girls girls can really pull these off. Still hoping most ladies stick to dark wash denim.

Chunky heels. Jeffery Campbell style shoes have been in for a while now but their especially big this season because they go so well with the other trends.

Celine handbags. The latest "it" bag that retails for around $2000 each. Bags with wings are now in. I still think the Balenciaga City bag has the best design but this one is more sophisticated.

munchies + haul

haul 3

McDonald’s Big Mac – its ok to be bad once in a while…

haul 4 haul 2

Propaganda Cardigan – Its a beautiful pastel lavender colour with beige tones. Plenty’s clothes are always simple but their styles and dyes are trendy yet still pretty.

haul 1

Forever 21 gold glitter cardigan, Guess wallet, Seductions tier tank

haul 5

Bath and Body Works new frangrance mists in Japanese Cherry Blossom and Twilight woods. I remember liking their old Twilight Woods scent but this one is quite sweet which is something I didn’t notice until I wore it out for a day. It’s nice but borders on  granny perfume. I’m loving Japanese Cherry Blossom though, its feminine but not sweet and refreshing in a sense. I didn’t think I’d like floral scents but this one is really nice!

haul 6

Talula bustier and Wilfred bustier from Aritzia  I love Talula bustiers, will be hunting for them in new prints.

Nyx Round Lipsticks

nyx lipps

Overall Rating: 10/10

These are my favourite lipsticks so far and they are cheap! The NYX location I got this from was at Surrey Central where they sell them for $4.99 each but you can get them online for as low was $2. Most drugstore/inexpensive lip colour brands have a very low range of colours that are mostly bright, vibrant red, pinks and purples but NYX has a huge selection of nude lipstick and wearable everyday colours. They all apply smoothly, are well pigmented and the packaging is sleek. Such a steal.

(swatches on my hand)

590 Honey - A great nude lipstick if you have pale skin. There are less pink/red tones than Circle so this shade can give you concealer lips. What I like to do is apply a very thin layer so some of natural lip colour peaks through and it ends up looking natural and pretty.

522 Circe  – My favourite of the bunch, no conceal lips. Slight pink tones that help it look more natural.

617 Summer Love – The most flattering nude-pink lipstick that I’ve found so far. (Keep in mind I haven’t tried that many) The thing is that this shade is kind of frosty so it still not very natural.

Stop Internet Censorship (PIPA & SOPA)

Don't let corporations take over the internet.
PIPA (Protect IP Act) and SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) (although the want to) will not stop Piracy, instead they will introduce strict censorship that will violate our rights and could send you to prison for 5 years for uploading illegal content.

Congress votes on them on Jan 24, 2012

but it should be our voice that matters, not corrupt bureaucrats supporting the already wealthy entertainment industry.

Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time. Avatar is the highest downloaded movie of all time. Still, Avatar made over $2 billion ($2,000,000,000) in profit. Hollywood is doing just fine.

Get informed. Spread the word. Sign the Petitions.
