money money money

i just read about the gifts Catalina received from her blog followers and i am so happy that there are so many generous and good-willed people out there. you know with the way the media portrays the world and society you'd think there's no good in it and everyone's shallow, selfish, greedy and an overall bad person. the media should reflect reality, but instead it selects what i wants to show. its not fiction but its not the whole truth. they'll show you one angle and act as if the others arn't there.

everything has become a business, a industry made for the reason of earning money. its not reporting news, its selling news. when i watched movies when i was little i was always amazing by the wide variety of stories they told but now when i watch the same movies as an older person i see that the conflicts and stories all rolve around the same things. all the bad guys are after money, in fact the biggest chunk of the main conflicts are about money! there is so much more to the world then money and i think its pretty pathetic that the entire industry can't think of a story that's not about it. the main reason that i like the joker in the dark knight is that he's one of the few superhero villains that are not after money, he has just been through so much chaos that he has become chaos. like dr. oz in spiderman 2, both are villains that are actually real characters that stand out among the cheap conflict blocks that many writers throw in, in attempt to keep their stories interesting. its the reason i dislike the creating of voldemort in the harry potter series, he's bad because he was born bad. his father was bad, his whole family was bad so he's going to be the baddest. he did not grow up bullied, but he was abandoned.

i'm really glad the worldwide media has changed their angles on the vancouver 2010 olympics, i was going to be very particular and harsh on judging the upcoming london and sochi olympics due to the way they've been treating us but i will take their change in heart as an apology and be a forgiving person

forgive but never forget

official goodbye to the olympics post still coming up but i'm feeling kind of sick atm. i've mainly stayed home for my spring break so far ): i have gone out though, i went for a walk this morning and i bought 2 my beauty diary paper masks sets!

both have ten masks each

red wine masks

aloe masks

haven't tried them yet but i will soon! i've heard a lot of great things about them(:

last words
don't foolishly follow what other want you to believe. remember that unless you were there, unless you lived it, you would be unfair to judge

In the house I grew up in, my room in the basement, the hours turning into years we spent.
Remember Chris in the backyard, laughing so damn hard and no one knew why.

But the rest if forgotten behind me.
Sometimes it reminds me of when we, we used to belong here.

Every memory comes on when I hear that old song that we used to sing with the words all wrong.
I remember the faces and familiar places.
And I sing along, but Acadia is gone.

Ran out of gas on the highway, we walked there and I gave drunken speeches on the sobriety.
Now we've all moved away and somehow became men, but I remember where it began.

Forgotten behind me.
Sometimes it reminds me of when we, we used to belong here.

Every memory comes on when I hear that old song that we used to sing with the words all wrong.
I remember the faces and familiar places.
And I sing along, but Acadia is gone

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. whoa, whoa, oh-e-oh, ah, ah.

Remember when 1712 Acadia road fell and they tore the house down.

Every memory comes on when I hear that old song that we used to sing with the words all wrong.
I remember the faces and familiar places.
And I sing along, but Acadia is gone.

Remember, behind me.
Sometimes it reminds me (Acadia is gone.)
Remember, behind me.
Sometimes it reminds me (In the house I grew up in.)
Remember, behind me (Remember the faces.)
Sometimes it reminds me (Somehow we became men.)
Remember, behind me.
Sometimes it reminds me (We used to belong here.)
Acadia is, Acadia is gone.
Acadia - Mariana Trench

i am in complete utter exhaustion, the end of term panic has reached me again and i become more of myself then i have been for so long. 2010 has already become everything i've hoped for. i'm not living as i did in 2009, and i've returned to who i am at my best. this weekend was once again spent downtown (instead of studying like a good girl) celebrating the last of the Olympics, a proper follow-up post is on the way, i have never been more proud of being a canadian. i must say before the games came here to vancouver, i really didn't consider myself "canadian". vancouver is so much like the US, except we have great bands like Faber Drive, Mariana Trench and hedley which do not sell their albums internationally, and is filled with so much east asian culture it was considered a "canadian city" only in name to me. but now, its canada all the way! i was so sad when i realized that they really were ending but the closing ceremonies gave an amazing proper farewell that left me with hope instead of sadness. our athletes won 14 gold metals, the most in the history of the winter olympics, through hard work and ambition. the future, which seemed so scary to me, then became more hopeful. it made me believe that hard work will create success, and that it is possible to achieve and become what i want to be. these were more then games to the people who were playing them and to the spectators that watched them. and all of it, happened within 10km of me, in the city i've grown up in. in the city i'm growning in now.

camwhoring vancouver!

gah i'm overdue in blogging but a lot has happened in the last 6 days . i'll start with saturday , it was another beautiful day outside, and got some great shots downtown! i decided to join the olympic crowd and explore my city (:

i really love this picture, it looked great even before i enhased the colours with photoshop!

stupid fence

the flame burns on! its been raining lately though, i wonder if they put a roof over it to keep it dry?

another fence ): this building was made for the olympics, forgot what its called though...

canada place was standing long before this but has definitely been renovated, i like the new look .

most canadians i know arn't very patriotic but i was really proud to see this! 7 golds so far!

olympic spirit (:

it was funny to see the mobs of people trudging along the store streets and then strolling peacefully along the empty streets with business buildings a block away.

its so hard to get food downtown! the lineups to get into a resturant are outrageous, store owners earned $2 million (all of them in total) in profit on the first day of the olympics. they're jumped the prices too )':

this shot belongs in an art gallery!

a taste of vancouver architecture

multimillion dollar apartments at waterfront

things will be great when your downtown

this is an actual photo! it really looks like a cartoon doesn't it?

british columbia, the best place to be. not really lmao, its raining like mad now!

ok that's really rare O_O its the first hippie van i've seen in person

this is my shot of the robson square ice skating rink, no one got on the ice from the time we were there ): i expected to see loads of people skating and cheesy music!

the line for the art gallery was about an hour, once you got in you forgot about everything except what you were looking at. i didn't understand a lot of the art but the way they presented it was very impressive.

nothing else to do while waiting to get in so i took a bunch of pictures

countdown to the opening ceremonies! (paralympics)

lost in the crowd....

a friend lined up for the zipline at 6AM and finally got on it at 12PM ! he said it was worth it , i hope they'll still have it up later on .

I have olympic fever! Ok i need to admit that when the olympics started here in Van I couldn't care less and was more concerned about how traffic would be a mess now but as of a couple days ago I am proud and honored to be a resident of the city that is currently hosting the winter olympics. Today i went to Live City in Yaletown, one of the free olympic venues going on! It was okay, the lineup to get in was over an hour, the sponsoring companies took no stops in promoting themselves (freaking annoying but imao the videos were pretty good!), and the food was seriously overpriced ($6 for a slice of pizza, $7 for a sandwich). I would not have gone on my own time but I'm glad i got to see it! picturees below

goodies i came back with!

they talked about promoting healthy and active living but was a total paradox cause their selling products that don't fit into a healthy lifestyle.

more pictures of the goodies

i like this one the most!

legs are dead tired right now! standing up all day is really exhausting. i don't know how waiters do this! new found respect for them.

go canada go! fourth place in metal standings is pretty good since we have like one tenth the population of the USA!
