camwhoring vancouver!

gah i'm overdue in blogging but a lot has happened in the last 6 days . i'll start with saturday , it was another beautiful day outside, and got some great shots downtown! i decided to join the olympic crowd and explore my city (:

i really love this picture, it looked great even before i enhased the colours with photoshop!

stupid fence

the flame burns on! its been raining lately though, i wonder if they put a roof over it to keep it dry?

another fence ): this building was made for the olympics, forgot what its called though...

canada place was standing long before this but has definitely been renovated, i like the new look .

most canadians i know arn't very patriotic but i was really proud to see this! 7 golds so far!

olympic spirit (:

it was funny to see the mobs of people trudging along the store streets and then strolling peacefully along the empty streets with business buildings a block away.

its so hard to get food downtown! the lineups to get into a resturant are outrageous, store owners earned $2 million (all of them in total) in profit on the first day of the olympics. they're jumped the prices too )':

this shot belongs in an art gallery!

a taste of vancouver architecture

multimillion dollar apartments at waterfront

things will be great when your downtown

this is an actual photo! it really looks like a cartoon doesn't it?

british columbia, the best place to be. not really lmao, its raining like mad now!

ok that's really rare O_O its the first hippie van i've seen in person

this is my shot of the robson square ice skating rink, no one got on the ice from the time we were there ): i expected to see loads of people skating and cheesy music!

the line for the art gallery was about an hour, once you got in you forgot about everything except what you were looking at. i didn't understand a lot of the art but the way they presented it was very impressive.

nothing else to do while waiting to get in so i took a bunch of pictures

countdown to the opening ceremonies! (paralympics)

lost in the crowd....

a friend lined up for the zipline at 6AM and finally got on it at 12PM ! he said it was worth it , i hope they'll still have it up later on .

got some pictures of olympic-related stuff of flickr and edited them a bit

this is such a beautiful shot of the olympic flame! (not taken by me) i only edited the lighting a bit.

whooooot! go canada! three gold so far!

the zipline! it looks like so much fun but there's no way i'm standing in line for 4 hours to do that.

robson square ice skating rink. just like in the movies where couples go skating at christmas, it must be soo crowded now 0_0

we had another great day of weather here so i headed downtown with a couple of friends afterwards. got a new mascara, prestige my blackest lashes. no match for lancome fatale in volume but my lashes arn't weighted down as much and it doesn't clump, i'll give an "in depth" review with before and after pictures some other time. =)

sephora is awesome, you can shop for stuff without being ambushed by sales people, i'm so glad they finally opened up in vancouver this summer.

i leave you with a picture of a fine product they have for sale at aberdeen center in richmond. you want this, you know really really want this.

I have olympic fever! Ok i need to admit that when the olympics started here in Van I couldn't care less and was more concerned about how traffic would be a mess now but as of a couple days ago I am proud and honored to be a resident of the city that is currently hosting the winter olympics. Today i went to Live City in Yaletown, one of the free olympic venues going on! It was okay, the lineup to get in was over an hour, the sponsoring companies took no stops in promoting themselves (freaking annoying but imao the videos were pretty good!), and the food was seriously overpriced ($6 for a slice of pizza, $7 for a sandwich). I would not have gone on my own time but I'm glad i got to see it! picturees below

goodies i came back with!

they talked about promoting healthy and active living but was a total paradox cause their selling products that don't fit into a healthy lifestyle.

more pictures of the goodies

i like this one the most!

legs are dead tired right now! standing up all day is really exhausting. i don't know how waiters do this! new found respect for them.

go canada go! fourth place in metal standings is pretty good since we have like one tenth the population of the USA!

olympic love

Congratulations to Alexandre Bilodeau . Not only is best in the world at men's moguls but he is the first Canadian to win a gold metal while Canada was hosting the Olympics! It’s incredible and extremely inspirational to hear of his success. In athletics or art or business there is always plenty of uncertainty because there of the countless factors that determined success. They’re not routes you can take straight forward; by following a route set by others you’ll reach a dead end, by making your own there are no guarantees. But hearing these stories of success show you it’s possible and it happens.

I know so many guys that are great athletes and tremendously passionate about sports, but won’t pursue their dream because they don’t think they’ll achieve it, and I feel the exact same way. What are the chances? 95% of all actor never start their careers, they just don’t get roles. The percentage of directors that actually make it is probably not far from that.
But then of course, what if Alexandre Bilodeau never tried, where would we be if Thomas Jefferson gave up on his education, became a drunk and never invented the light bulb or do everything else he did do? What if Marilyn Monroe committed suicide 10 years earlier? If Martin Luther King never fought for his dream? Hell what if Harry Potter became an emo kid because of the way the Dursleys treated him and never went after Voldemort? How many people never lived up to their full potential due to fear of failure? You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

in the end, it's the "what if"'s
that hurt the most. like, what if
things had gone a little differently?

Old people terrify me because they’ve lived their lives, they’ve gone through their youth; through marriage, children, careers; through all their decisions. Some of them hang onto their youth or the way life used to be, some are bitter, but some are satisfied. They welcome change, accept their entire lives and are happy with it. I’m afraid of going old without having done all I’ve wanted to do. I don’t want to live forever, I don’t want immortality or eternal youth. I want to die someday, but not before I’ve done all I can do and all I want to do.

What we do for ourselves dies with us.
What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.
Albert Pine

You know, just because your life is already pretty far down
one road doesn't mean you can't take a detour. Don't worry if
there's no sign to point the way. Just trust your own compass
and follow the arrow. The point is to take the wheel and drive.
Sometimes the side roads are where you find the best surprises.

My dream to become a film maker comes from the films I’ve seen. I don’t want to tell a story, I want to show it. And I want to show it to large audience and have them experience what they wouldn’t experience in life, or help them understand what they are experiencing in life. I grew up with movies, my parents are the kind of people that trapped to the past. Their childhoods were challenging and unfair and they had circumstances I’ll never have to face.

Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all
the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.
The Great Gatsby

Films, novels and mangas raised me and I want to, in return, raise them.

Everyday I think about what you said to me that day bridge.
I tried to live my life the best that I could. I hope that was enough.
I hope that, at least in your eyes, I've earned what all of you have done for me.
Saving Private Ryan

For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early
to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever
you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to
this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make
the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you
feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a
different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you
find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

But for now I’ll stop worrying about the future, because I refuse to lose what I have for what has not yet come. I’ll never be what I am now again, and I’ll never want to be, constant evolution is what being human is all about. What you’ve done and what you were becomes what you will be. Life is not about never making mistakes, or being ashamed of them, it’s about taking lows to achieve highs, and taking what you’ve got, i.e. experiences, to make your life something truly extraordinary.
We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us,
that we don't take the time to enjoy where we are.

gah sitting in class after a long weekend is like waking up after a great dream, a total reality shock. couldn't concentrate at all in class ):

realize i needed new pens and went over to the staples near metrotown. security at the skytrains was very tight (as expected!). staples had a lot of security too, (notice the paid sticker?) but they were friendly to me. these are the best american brand of pens i've used! i usually prefer asian ones because their thinner and smoother but bic caught on that fat pens are crap and started making fine ones (0.8mm diameter). their so much cheaper then asian shops! the whole package (like 16ish pens?) was like $2 while at korean stationary shops its $2 per pen! i've only seen these at staple so far though

also bought an awesome t-shirt from mimi mcqueen. i love their clothes but i find their sales people very pushy ;(. can't really tell from the picture but there are rhinestones on the camera!

picked up a metrotown brocher while i was there.

I'm down to my very last ferreror rocher chocolate from christmas!

saving it!

still there....

so tempted!

haven't started using clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion yet because we're getting a lot of sun in Vancouver right now. its too heavy to use with sun products ):

i'm using neutrogena sunscreen spf 45 and

tjoy's whitening sun care set!

i haven't started using the clarifying lotion/toner yet either because i'm out of cotton swabs. forgot to buy more today!
